Cafe Gianni in Mount Dora

Everything was perfect, the food was excellent and our waiter Brian Donohue was extraordinary! We will definitely be back!!!

Delicious, traditional Italian food. Our group of 4 loved each of our meals. The veal capricciosa was my favorite along with the mini cannolis for dessert. Service was great and the restaurant is small, but quaint. One of the best restaurants in Mount Dora.

What a lovely place to gather for lunch or dinner. Will make another trip to Gianni,s again and again. The chief definitely loves what he dose, and thank you for sharing your grandmother dishes! Delicious!!!! I loved how personable the waitress was and the owner/chief coming out to see if we were enjoying his meals he had freshly prepared. Even if you are full DO NOT LEAVE WITHOUT DESSERT!

Outstanding Italian cuisine. The smell drew us in and I couldn't have enjoyed it more. My sacchettini was nothing short of incredible and the bruschetta was equally good. Our server was very friendly and attentive, taking our order as soon as we were ready and making sure our glasses were full. I don't make it to Mount Dora often, but once we do we'll be heading back.

The food was excellent!!! We ordered the mussels and the Special of the House Pasta made with a shrimp and pear sauce. Would recommend this restaurant to anyone...will go back again ...

We really enjoyed our experience there. It was a slow night so we got to meet the chef, very charming and our waiter was very attentive. We had the mussels as an appetizer which were excellent and perfect for dipping the home made bread. The menu has plenty of options but disappointing that there were no fish selections that were not farmed raised. However the pasta with shrimp and pears and it was amazing!! No room for desert.. quaint atmosphere. You should definitely go. If they had a slightly better wine list and some fresh fish I would have given it a 4!

Everything was wonderful! The place itself is so cute and great for a quiet intimate date. The service we had was great and the food was so delicious. We will definitely be coming back!

This is the place to eat in Mt. Dora. The food is consistent, delicious and served by attentive, knowledgeable servers. Hats off to Chef Gianni! Don't miss the tiramisu....homemade, of course.

Great Italian food at a reasonable price. Cannoli's are awesome

Stale bread. Bland sauce. Noodles overcooked. Dessert was store bought quality. Honestly really couldn't recommend this place to anyone. The pricing for what you get is absolutely obscene.Hard to believe any of these reviews are positive.

I had alfredo with angel hair pasta with grilled chicken that had so much pepper in it that I could not eat it. I asked for another plate and the waitress gave me attitude. She would not reorder it for me. I will never come back here again. And I do not recommend anyone to come here again.

I love this place. The food is always fresh and delicious. They have seasonal local choices that add a little variety and keep us going back. Service, at times, can be their weak link but it's never bad just not as good as the menu. Atmosphere is perfect and location is perfect. Would recommend to anyone looking for a great meal in a nice small town.

We went on a trip back home. Loved this place! We plan to go back and will be asking for Brian Donohue again! Great place, great food and great service! Try the veal marsala and creme brulee! Gianni was a great host and so funny!

I always enjoy the food and service at Giannis! My last time dining at the wonderful establishment I had Brian for my waiter and he was fantastic. I felt my experience was very relaxing and he made sure I had everything I needed. Thanks so much!

Just finished an amazing dinner. I have dined at Italian restaurants all over the country and this place is as good as one in New York, Chicago.....

Quaint Italian restaurant. Authentic food, very delicious. Party of 4 and the total was $83 with appetizers, so that is the price point you're looking at. Worth it. I had the Penne Vodka- delicious. The service was wonderful, the chef came to the table to make sure our meal was satisfactory. I definitely recommend this restaurant for anyone.

Had a wonderful light lunch of cold smoked salmon with lemon and capers and a lovely pinot grigio.

Top notch experience. Except...Chicken was tough as shoe leather, but every other aspect of the dish was outstanding.Other yuck: outdoor server was scratching and petting a dog that other diners brought in. Not good.Despite those two issues, this place was awesome!

We sat down after a stroll through Mount Dora and ordered several appetizers. They were all EXCELLENT. We will be back!What we ordered: prosciutto & melon, bruschetta, caprese, and salmon carpaccio. The tomatoes were some of the best I’ve ever had. Even my 2 year old couldn’t get enough.

The food was fantastic, our server's name was Peasant and she was more than that. Great food, music and atmosphere! Coming back for sure!

I wish I had taken a picture of this beautiful dish. It was the ravioli verdure. So delicious! The staff was so warm and welcoming. And the tiramisu was the best I have ever had! Who’d have thought? In Mount Dora?? Definitely worth coming here!!

Our favorite italian restaurant! The purse shape pasta is fo die for and the bolognese pasta is great. Great quality of food!

Don't know how they stay open. The alfredo sauce was terrible. And so over priced. I'm afraid to eat the tiramisu. Wish I could get my money back.

Our lobster ravioli with shrimp in a saffron cream sauce was exquisite. Our server, Megan, was professional, attentive and friendly. A lovely meal in a relaxing atmosphere!

The food, and the service were fantastic!! It’s a cozy place with many authentic dishes to choose from. Gianni personally came out to ensure that we were all happy with our meals. I will definitely be back, and I highly recommended this restaurant. 😎👍

Few mixed opinions based on the group I was with. Most of our meals were pretty good, typical Italian food, decent portion sizes for the pasta dishes. Other dishes were a little on the smaller side. Now the issue is when booking the reservation I confirmed they could accommodate for vegans, I was told yes. At the restaurant we also confirmed with the waiter and a few dishes were confirmed to be vegan. Well a few in our party ordered the VEGAN dish and guess what, not vegan. An apology was not really given and only a discount of 10% was given on meals that couldn’t be enjoyed. Butter is not vegan as it is a dairy product and that could be a huge issue for someone, especially when ordered to not contain it. Had a more appropriate response been given it would have left me with a better review of here.

Was very underwhelmed. They didn’t let us sit at an empty table due to a reservation. After 1 hour the reservation wasn’t there. Menu is hard to read but We figured it out. The spaghetti sauce didn’t have anything other than tomatoes in it. Noodles weren’t cooked long enough. We had to ask for EVERYTHING! Bread.... salt... etc. Lipstick stains on the cups. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND GOING HERE!!!

The best Italian restaurant in Lake County. My server Brian was amazing and very professional. The chefs care about the food they serve. Everything was amazing. Will be back for sure.

My first time visiting Gianni's, thought it would be great to try for my mother's birthday and YES it was! I will be returning. Rick was pleasant and answered all questions I had for food items. Thank you so much for giving my mom a great meal.

This is the full dining experience. Chef and his staff are wonderful. The food is undoubtly out of this world. But it does not stop there. The location is quaint, charming and historic. It wows all the senses.There many fine places to dine in Mt. Dora, but this the best.

Delicious food awaits behind the unassuming exterior. Indoor and outdoor seating has a casual elegant style. The food was very good, and pricing was moderate for the area. Situated in the heart of Mount Dora. A nice addition to anyone's "Journey List".

My favorite Italian restaurant in central Florida, the food is consistently delicious. The ingredients are expertly blended together for a tasty experience. I order a type of rigatoni that has a flavorful sauce, with garlic, anchovies, and olives. The atmosphere inside is pleasant, and I prefer to either sit outside, or on the second floor. It is located right in downtown Mt Dora, in a very lively section of town. All the staff is helpful and nice, and does a good job. I met Gianni one evening, watching him cooking away, and he is a pleasant fellow. We love to take a nice walk after the meal and explore the quaint shops in the area, and walk by Lake Dora. They don’t have a parking lot, but there is plenty of parking in the area

We popped in here to get out of the coming down pour, we were seated upstairs by ourselves most of the time. It was a nice little place with very courteous staff. The food was certainly excellent, towards the end our service got a little slow and it took some 30 minutes or so to get our cards back after paying. It was a nice place to eat though for sure. The food was amazing and made up for the lack of service near the end of our dinner.

Amazing service! My fiancé took me on a surprise date here in the midst of the quarantine and they were so welcoming and safe! The food was absolutely amazing and we are one hundred percent coming back! Loved it!!

Just got 4 dinners for my famiglia! 5 star all the way . The florentine was dreamy! The muscles were the best. The alfredo was fantastic and the bread was over the top. Hope you survive the CRISIS Best of luck.

This place's food is amazing. The atmosphere is that of a high end fine dining experience but the prices are that of an average dinner out. They could easily charge 2-3 times their prices. Incredibly friendly staff and a great place for anything from family dinners, to birthdays, to date nights, to a quick lunch.
